Rabat – Mohamed Rabie Hrimat has announced his departure from AS FAR, bringing an emotional end to a successful spell during which he became one of the club’s most influential players and captains.
Hrimat confirmed his exit through a farewell message published on his official Instagram account on Wednesday. He described the decision to leave AS FAR as one of the most difficult moments of his career.
“After the beautiful years I spent with the team of my heart, the time has come to say goodbye,” he wrote. “It is one of the hardest words for a player who became attached to this shirt, its supporters and its great history.”
The 31-year-old midfielder said he understood the responsibility of representing AS FAR from the first day he joined the club and insisted that he had always given everything to defend its colors.
“I did not hold back a single drop of sweat, and I spared no effort in defending the club on and off the pitch with pride, honesty and loyalty,” Hrimat said.
A successful spell in Rabat
Hrimat joined AS FAR in November 2020 after previously representing FUS Rabat, Union de Salé and Kénitra Athletic Club. He gradually became a central figure in the team’s midfield before being appointed captain.
Known for his leadership, physical presence and ability to control the tempo of matches, he played an important role in AS FAR’s return to the top of Moroccan football.
Hrimat helped the military club win the Throne Cup for the 2020–2021 season, defeating Moghreb Tetouan 3-0 in the final played in Agadir in May 2022.
He later captained AS FAR to the 2022–2023 Botola Pro title, ending the club’s 15-year wait for a league championship. Those were the two trophies Hrimat referenced in his farewell message.
“I leave after contributing, alongside everyone at the club, to winning two titles that will remain engraved in my memory forever,” he said.
Hrimat acknowledged that the team had hoped to win more trophies but said he remained proud of the achievements and experiences he shared with his teammates and supporters.
Hrimat thanks AS FAR supporters
The midfielder reserved special thanks for AS FAR’s supporters, describing them as the team’s real source of strength during both successful and difficult periods.
He also thanked the club’s management, technical staff and the players with whom he shared the dressing room.
“I experienced unforgettable moments with this team,” Hrimat wrote. “I shared the joy of victories and the difficulty of challenges with its supporters, and I had the honor of leading a group of men who fought for this badge.”
Hrimat said AS FAR had become more than a football club to him during his years in Rabat.
“It was a home, a family and a part of my life that will remain in my heart for as long as I live,” he added.
New Chapter expected in qatar
Moroccan reports indicate that Hrimat is preparing to join Qatar Stars League side Al Shamal.
The midfielder is reportedly set to sign a two-year contract, with an option for an additional season. The transfer would represent his first professional experience outside Morocco.
Al Shamal moved to secure Hrimat after his strong performances for AS FAR and Morocco’s locally based national team.
The Rabat-born midfielder was named the best player of the 2024 African Nations Championship after helping Morocco win the title. He also won the Golden Ball at the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup, where Morocco lifted the trophy.
Those performances strengthened Hrimat’s reputation beyond the Botola and attracted reported interest from several clubs in the Gulf region before Al Shamal moved to complete the deal.
Hrimat concluded his message by wishing AS FAR continued success and further trophies.
“Today, I open a new page in my sporting career and begin a new experience, but I leave carrying priceless memories and great love for this club and its supporters,” he said.
“Thank you for the trust, love and support. I sincerely hope that AS FAR continues winning titles, making its supporters happy and remaining in the position it deserves among the biggest clubs.”
