Rabat – The first edition of the Jr. NBA League Morocco concluded last weekend following a thrilling final phase held at the Lydex Lycée d’Excellence in Rabat and the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex.
The NBA-styled event brought together thousands of young basketball players, top girls and boys teams from across the kingdom to compete for the title.
Following a competitive season across five regions, El Jadida, El Gantour, Laâyoune, Khouribga, and Safi, the Boston Celtics of El Jadida emerged as the national girls’ champions. Joining them on the podium were the San Antonio Spurs El Jadida, who secured the national title for the boys.
Individual performances were also recognized at the end of the tournament, with Nihal Bouaziz from El Jadida’s Boston Celtics, El Jadida winning the MVP award for the girls, and Imrane Jeddou from Safi’s Minnesota Timberwolves of Safi receiving the MVP title for the boys.
The program was implemented in collaboration with OCP’s ACT4COMMUNITY initiative, the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University’s EVOSPORT project, and the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports.
According to organizers, the program ultimately aims to instill essential values such as life skills, teamwork, leadership, and a healthy lifestyle, while strengthening sustainable development prospects for youth through sports.
