Rabat – Lamine Yamal is racing to rediscover his form before the 2026 World Cup kicks off on June 11, with the tournament set to be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
He returned to Barcelona’s training center today to continue his recovery, has Marca reported. According to the report, the winger spent the morning in the gym at Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, remaining fully focused on his goal of leading Spain in the upcoming World Cup.
The 18-year-old is determined to compete in the World Cup this summer, exhausting every resource to ensure he is match-ready for the tournament.
Despite the end of the Barcelona season, the young winger is bypassing his vacation to focus on fitness. He is following a strict training plan, determined to be available for Spanish manager Luis de la Fuente this summer.
Lamine is currently recovering from a left-leg hamstring injury sustained during a match against Celta Vigo on April 22, with Barcelona confirming in a medical report that he will sit out the remainder of the club season to focus on his fitness.
Even though he is out of coach Hansi Flick’s plans for the rest of the league, he is likely to be ready for the World Cup. Doctors originally expected him to be fit in time for the tournament, and he is reported to still be on track to play for Spain this summer.
Marca reports that the young Barcelona player is following a recovery plan created by a joint team of club and national team medical experts, and his progress remains very positive.
The winger shared on Tuesday a photo on social media of himself using a stationary bike at the Barcelona gym, showing fans that he is working hard to return to the pitch.
After starting his recovery with simple ice treatments, Lamine is now back in the gym and has even begun training on the pitch again. Both Hansi Flick and Luis de la Fuente are staying in close contact to ensure he is being supervised every step of the way without taking any risks.
The winger recently took to social media to share his thoughts on the injury with his fans. “This injury has sidelined me at the very moment I most wanted to be on the pitch, and it hurts more than I can explain,” he wrote.
“It hurts not being able to fight alongside my teammates, not being able to help when the team needs me. “This isn’t the end, it’s just a pause. I’ll come back stronger, more eager than ever, and next season will be even better.”
