Rabat – FIFA officially confirmed today that the final squad lists for all 48 nations participating in the 2026 World Cup must be submitted and will be revealed by June 2.
While national associations may announce their selections at any time, they are only considered official once approved and confirmed by FIFA on that date.
Maintaining the same format from Qatar 2022, each squad will consist of up to 26 players. The registration process begins with a provisional phase where teams submit an internal list of 35 to 55 players, including at least four goalkeepers. This list will remain private and unpublished until May 11.
Past this date, teams must finalize a roster of 23 to 26 players, featuring at least three goalkeepers.
Following the June 2 deadline, players may only be replaced due to serious injury or illness. Outfield players can be swapped up to 24 hours before a team’s opening match, while goalkeepers may be replaced at any point during the competition.
However, all players must hold the nationality of the country they are representing in the World Cup. As FIFA puts it, “All players shall hold the nationality of their country or territory as represented by the Participating Member Association and be subject to its jurisdiction.”Â
