Rabat – AS Monaco have reportedly made a clear decision regarding the future of Ansu Fati. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the club has chosen to keep the young forward permanently instead of letting him return to FC Barcelona.
The French side will pay a transfer fee of 11 million euros to finalize the move, officially triggering the purchase option that was included in his original loan agreement.
The deal is now entering its final stages as the club works to finish the last contract details with the player, with Barcelona also making sure to include a sell-on clause, which gives them a percentage of the money if he is sold again in the future, Fabrizio reports.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed a strong comeback with AS Monaco this season, proving to be a highly efficient scorer. Despite playing limited minutes and often coming off the bench, he has managed to score 10 goals in 23 appearances.
This transfer serves as a major win for both sides. Monaco stands to secure a talented player as a main part of their future plans, while Barcelona receives a guaranteed fee and keeps a way to profit from him later on.
The Spanish international is set to be the first player to leave Barcelona this summer. He likely will not be the last, as other players like Marc Casadó are also expected to move on to find more consistent playing time.
Monaco are currently sitting in 6th place in the Ligue 1 standings. So far, the team has managed to pick up 16 wins and 6 draws across 32 matches.
Their high-scoring campaign has seen them find the net 56 times, with their solid home form keeping them in the race for European qualification.
