Rabat – Morocco’s Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit held talks on Thursday in Rabat with leaders and representatives of political parties holding parliamentary groups as authorities officially began preparations for the upcoming legislative elections scheduled for September 23.
The meeting focused on the general framework guiding preparations for the election of members of the House of Representatives of Morocco, as well as the regulatory and organizational measures already adopted ahead of the vote.
Officials presented updates on the revision of Morocco’s general electoral lists, a process set to begin on May 15 as part of preparations for the national ballot. Participants were also briefed on new accounting-related regulations concerning political parties.
Discussions further addressed the administrative and logistical arrangements being put in place to oversee the electoral process, alongside the launch of a nationwide institutional communication campaign across traditional and digital media platforms.
During the meeting, party leaders were also informed about the progress of two digital platforms currently under development: one dedicated to the electronic submission of candidacy declarations and another designed to facilitate voting proxy procedures for Moroccans living abroad.
The talks provided an opportunity for political parties and public authorities to exchange views on the remaining organizational and practical measures that still need to be finalized before the elections.
According to officials, the discussions took place in what was described as a positive atmosphere marked by constructive dialogue.
Political party representatives reaffirmed their readiness to contribute alongside public institutions to ensure the success of the legislative elections and strengthen Morocco’s democratic process under the leadership of King Mohammed VI.
