Wydad President Hicham Ait Menna has officially set July 15 as the date for the club’s ordinary and electoral general assembly, a meeting expected to mark the end of the current board’s time in charge and the election of a new president ahead of next season.
The decision was reportedly confirmed during a meeting held between Ait Menna and club members on Tuesday evening at the Mohammed Benjelloun complex.
The current board had previously announced its intention to resign during the upcoming general assembly, insisting that the decision comes out of “respect for the current responsibilities and commitments” surrounding the club, and as a result of the club’s devastating run this season.
At the same time, Wydad also announced the opening of membership applications for the 2026-27 season, with the process set to start from May 5 until June 5 under the club’s usual regulations.
The club also confirmed that applications for the presidency will officially open between June 5 and June 20, ahead of what is expected to be a crucial moment for the future of Wydad heading into the next stage of the club’s project.
The news comes amid a time of crisis and growing criticism surrounding the team’s performance throughout the season. Some observers and fans attributed the situation to what they described as a failure of management under Ait Menna and a major downfall for the Reds.
The next few days could play a major role in shaping the future of the club. Wydad hopes to head into next season with a fresh start and new direction.
