Rabat – Morocco’s Ismael Saibari has been officially nominated among five finalists for the Eredivisie Player of the Year award on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old midfielder has established himself as a key component of the PSV Eindhoven lineup during a career-best campaign, scoring 19 goals and providing nine assists across all competitions, his highest statistical output since joining the club.
Saibari’s consistent performance in high-stakes matches of the league has secured his place in the starting lineup and made him a central figure in PSV Eindhoven’s league title pursuit.
By making the shortlist for the second year in a row, the Moroccan international has again been recognized as one of the league’s top performers, as the Eredivisie Player of the Year title is the most significant individual trophy a player can win in the Netherlands.
The five-man shortlist features a high level of competition, with Saibari joined by his PSV teammate Joey Veerman, Ajax’s Mika Godts, NEC’s Tjaronn Chery, and Heerenveen’s Jacob Trenskow.
PSV’s 2026 Eredivisie title, fueled by the Moroccan trio of Couhaib Driouech, Anas Salah-Eddine, and Ismael Saibari, perfectly sets the stage for Saibari’s Player of the Season candidacy.
The Atlas lion joined PSV in July 2020 from KRC Genk’s youth academy. After starting with the U21 squad, he quickly earned a promotion to the first team and has since developed into a key player for the club.
The Eredivisie Player of the Season will be announced at an awards ceremony on May 25, with the winner determined by a combination of votes from the league’s 18 club captains and performance data provided by Opta.
