Rabat — Paris FC has rejected a formal request from the French Professional Football League (LFP) to host Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 title ceremony during this Sunday’s derby at Stade Jean-Bouin.
According to Le Parisien, the club’s administration declined the LFP’s proposal, stating they have already scheduled festivities to honor departing players. Most notably, the club intends to pay tribute to Julien Lopez, the squad’s longest-serving player. Lopez, who joined the side in 2017, is set to leave this summer as his contract will not be renewed.
The newly promoted Parisian club received the request today as the LFP looks for a venue to present the trophy to PSG.
Paris Saint-Germain is on the verge of officially securing the title after maintaining its position at the summit of the table for the duration of the campaign. Following Wednesday’s rescheduled match against Lens, a win or a draw will be mathematically sufficient for the visitors to clinch the Ligue 1 crown.
Despite the firm rivalry competition from RC Lens and LOSC Lille, the Parisian giants have successfully defended their first-place standing, proving their dominance in the French league once again.
