Rabat – The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has confirmed that midfielder Ayoub Bouaddi is now officially eligible to play for Morocco’s national team.
The decision came from FIFA’s Players’ Status Chamber, which approved the request to change Bouaddi’s sporting nationality from French to Moroccan. The ruling, dated May 15, grants the player immediate clearance to join the Atlas Lions in upcoming international competitions.
Bouaddi was born on October 2, 2007, in France. He plays as a central midfielder and is considered one of the most promising young talents in Ligue 1.
His performances with Lille have drawn attention from both the French and Moroccan federations over the past year.

The player previously represented France at the youth level before deciding to commit to Morocco. His choice reflects the FRMF’s continued strategy of attracting young dual‑national players from the diaspora who have developed in European academies.
Profile and career
Bouaddi joined Lille’s academy at a young age and quickly progressed through the ranks. He made his senior debut at 16, becoming one of the youngest players to appear in Ligue 1.
Known for his composure, passing range, and tactical awareness, he has already featured regularly in Lille’s midfield rotation.
In the 2025/26 season, Bouaddi made over 25 appearances in Ligue 1 and European competitions, showing consistency and maturity beyond his age. His development has made him a valuable prospect for Morocco’s future midfield setup.
With FIFA’s approval, Bouaddi is now available for selection by head coach Mohamed Ouahbi. His inclusion is expected to add depth and technical balance to Morocco’s midfield ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
The FRMF confirmed that Bouaddi’s eligibility takes effect immediately, allowing him to join upcoming training camps and potentially make his debut in the next international window.
