Rabat – The National Retirement and Insurance Fund (CNRA) and the Collective Retirement Allocation Scheme (RCAR) announced the early payment of monthly pensions and traffic accident annuities for June in anticipation of Eid Al-Adha.
RCAR and CNRA, which are both managed by the Deposit and Management Fund (CDG), said payments will be made in advance starting May 20 due to Eid Al-Adha.
Morocco’s Islamic Ministry announced on Sunday that Monday marks the beginning of Dhul-Hijjah, the twelfth and final month in the Islamic calendar.
This means Eid al-Adha will fall on May 27, which corresponds to the tenth day of Dhul-Hijjah.
RCAR and CNRA’s decision aligns with the government’s decision to release public sector salaries on May 20.
This means salaries will be sent to public sector employees a week ahead of the usual schedule to help them cover expenses tied to Eid Al-Adha, one of the most significant religious events in Islam.
The Eid, also known as the Sacrifice Feast, commemorates the faith and devotion of Prophet Ibrahim, who showed a willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail in obedience to God’s command.
Before the sacrifice, God intervened and provided a ram to be slaughtered instead.
The National Social Security Fund (CNSS) also issued a separate statement, stating that it will pay out May pensions no later than May 23.
Eid Al-Adha debates and discussions have gone viral, especially on social media, where many expressed concerns about high expenses or the high cost of livestock.
Many citizens criticize the high cost of sheep despite reassurance from the government that livestock designated for the feast exceeds national demand.
The Ministry of Agriculture said that the national supply of sheep and goats available for Eid Al-Adha stands between 8 and 9 million head.
Demand is estimated at 6 to 7 million head, putting the supply well above projected needs.
