Morocco’s U17 women’s team has officially been placed in Pot 1 for the draw of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2026. As hosts of the tournament, Morocco will benefit from top-seeded status alongside some of the biggest nations in world women’s football.
The 2026 edition will be the 10th FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and the second consecutive tournament hosted by Morocco, after FIFA’s decision to award the kingdom hosting rights annually until 2029. The competition will take place from October 17 to November 7 and will have an expanded 24-team format.
Official FIFA Draw Pots
The official FIFA draw pots are as follows:
Pot 1: Morocco, Spain, North Korea, Japan, United States, Canada.
Pot 2: Brazil, Mexico, CAF 1, Germany, France, China.
Pot 3: New Zealand, CAF 2, Poland, CAF 3, CAF 4, Chile.
Pot 4: Venezuela, Norway, Samoa, Australia, Puerto Rico, Argentina.
The four remaining African representatives, listed as CAF 1 to CAF 4, are still competing in the qualification rounds organized by the Confederation of African Football. Their identities will be confirmed once the continental qualifiers end.
The official draw ceremony will take place tomorrow at FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland. The event will be streamed live on FIFA+, YouTube, and TikTok as part of FIFA’s World Football Week celebrations.
A total of 24 national teams from 6 confederations will participate in the tournament, including 5 African representatives, 5 European teams, 4 Asian nations, 4 Concacaf teams, 4 South American sides, and 2 Oceania teams.
Last year, the Atlas Lionesses made history and progressed to the knockout stage of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup for the first time ever. This time around they will want to capitalize again on home advantage and strong local support to achieve a historic run in the most important youth women’s football tournaments in the world.
