Rabat – German club Stuttgart have confirmed the permanent signing of Moroccan international Bilal El Khannous, turning his loan from Leicester City into a full transfer. The attacking midfielder has signed a long‑term contract that runs until 2028.
El Khannous joined Stuttgart on loan for the 2025‑26 season and quickly became one of the team’s standout performers.
His impact convinced the club to activate the purchase option included in the deal with Leicester.
The 21‑year‑old played 41 matches across all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists.
His creativity and consistency made him a key figure in Stuttgart’s midfield and one of the most promising young players in the Bundesliga.
Praise from club management
Stuttgart’s sporting director Fabian Völgmoht commended El Khannous after the deal was finalized. He pointed to the player’s technical ability, vision, and maturity despite his young age.
“Bilal delivered convincing performances throughout the season,” Völgmoht said. “He has already shown his importance for both Stuttgart and the Moroccan national team. His qualities are exceptional, and we believe he still has room to grow.”
The director added that the club sees El Khannous as a long‑term asset who can continue to develop and play a central role in Stuttgart’s project.
El Khannous has also established himself with the Moroccan national team, where he plays a pivotal role in midfield.
His progress at club level has strengthened his position with the Atlas Lions, making him one of the brightest talents in Moroccan football.
For Stuttgart, securing his services until 2028 is a major boost. The club is aiming to build stability and competitiveness in the Bundesliga, and El Khannous is expected to be central to that plan.
