Rabat – Moroccan international Ismael Saibari has been crowned Eredivisie Player of the Season for 2025/26 after a standout campaign with PSV Eindhoven.
The award was announced at the league’s annual ceremony, following a vote by captains of all 18 clubs.
Saibari, 24, delivered one of the most influential seasons in Dutch football. He contributed directly to 23 goals in 27 matches, scoring 15 times and providing 8 assists.
His impact was especially clear in big games, where he registered 5 goals and 3 assists against top‑table opponents.
His performances helped PSV secure their third consecutive league title, showing his importance as the team’s creative force in midfield.
Saibari beat strong competition for the award, including Tjaronn Chery, Mika Godts, Jakob Trenskow, and teammate Joey Veerman.
He became only the second PSV player to win the prize after Luuk de Jong, joining a list of past winners that includes some of the league’s biggest stars.
Saibari grew up in Belgium and developed through youth academies before joining PSV in 2020. He is known for his strength, technical skill, and ability to drive forward from midfield.
He made his breakthrough with PSV’s first team in 2022 and has steadily grown into a key player.
His versatility allows him to play as an attacking midfielder or deeper in midfield, linking play and contributing goals.
Saibari’s rise has mirrored Morocco’s success on the international stage. He played a key role in the Atlas Lions’ triumph at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaching, Saibari is expected to be one of Morocco’s key players.
His ability to transition quickly between defense and attack makes him vital to the team’s structure.
