Fez – A new development project is underway in the city of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun to restore and enhance the natural and tourist site of Bab Rmila. The project is part of broader efforts to strengthen the tourism and cultural appeal of the Fez-Meknes Region and preserve its historical and architectural heritage, local authorities have said.

It aims to revive the site through the rehabilitation of public spaces, the improvement of basic infrastructure and the beautification of the urban environment.

Regional officials say the initiative seeks to highlight the historical and tourist value of Bab Rmila while creating a more functional and welcoming setting for both residents and visitors.

According to the regional council of Fez-Meknes, the works include the redevelopment of access roads, the renovation of streets and pedestrian areas, the upgrade of public lighting and the enhancement of the site’s heritage features, while respecting its historical and cultural identity.

The project is being carried out by the Regional Agency for Project Execution of Fez-Meknes as part of an integrated development strategy focused on improving public spaces, boosting local tourism and economic activity, and strengthening the region’s cultural attractiveness.

The initiative also aims to preserve and promote the historical and architectural heritage of the region while supporting sustainable territorial development that benefits local communities.
