Rabat – Morocco international Achraf Hakimi has been ranked eighth in FOX Sports’ list of the top 100 players expected to feature at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The list places Hakimi among the top 10 players in the ranking, alongside Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappe, Harry Kane, Ousmane Dembele, Michael Olise, Erling Haaland, Vinicius Junior, Vitinha, and Pedri.
Hakimi is the only defender included in FOX Sports’ top 10. The ranking is not an official FIFA list, but an editorial selection by FOX Sports ahead of the World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The 27-year-old enters the tournament after two successful seasons with Paris Saint-Germain. PSG won the 2025 UEFA Champions League after beating Inter Milan 5-0 in the final, with Hakimi opening the scoring in the 12th minute.

The Moroccan right-back was also part of PSG’s 2026 Champions League-winning squad, as the French club retained the title with a penalty shootout victory over Arsenal after a 1-1 draw in Budapest.
Hakimi’s recent club record adds to his importance for Morocco. He was one of the key players in the Atlas Lions’ 2022 World Cup campaign, when Morocco became the first African and Arab team to reach the semi-finals of the competition.
He played in every match of that tournament and scored the decisive penalty against Spain in the round of 16, sending Morocco to the quarter-finals for the first time in the country’s history.
Since making his Morocco debut in 2016, Hakimi has become one of the national team’s most experienced players. FOX Sports’ Morocco World Cup preview listed him as a key player for the Atlas Lions, noting his role at PSG and his 88 caps for Morocco.
Hakimi’s eighth-place ranking comes as Morocco prepares for another World Cup campaign with a squad that includes several players competing at top European clubs.
Morocco will enter the 2026 World Cup with higher expectations after its 2022 run in Qatar. Hakimi’s form with PSG and his place among FOX Sports’ top 10 players underline his status as one of the main names to watch for Walid Regragui’s team.
