Casablanca — Morocco welcomed 7.7 million tourists by the end of May 2026, an increase of 7% compared to the same period last year, according to figures released by the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy.
The ministry said the sector maintained its upward trend during the first months of the year, supported by strong results in May. During that month alone, Morocco received 1.7 million tourists, representing a 13% increase compared to May 2025.
The latest figures reflect continued growth in one of the country’s key economic sectors as Morocco seeks to attract more international visitors and expand its tourism offering.
In a statement accompanying the data, Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor said the results confirm the effectiveness of the government’s approach to developing the sector. She pointed to investments in air connectivity, tourism products, and visitor experience as key elements behind the growth recorded so far this year.
“The tourism sector continues its positive momentum in 2026,” Ammor said. She added that the strategy of investing simultaneously in connectivity, tourism offerings, and visitor experience has helped maintain steady growth.
According to the minister, this approach is also strengthening Morocco’s attractiveness as a destination for travelers from around the world.
The country welcomed 1.7 million tourists in May alone, contributing to a total of 7.7 million arrivals recorded between January and the end of May.
