Rabat – The Euromed University of Fez (UEMF) has once again taken the top spot among Moroccan universities in the 2026 Round University Ranking (RUR), marking its second year in a row at the head of the national list.
Published on June 9, the ranking draws on data from Clarivate and Thomson Reuters and evaluates universities based on teaching, research output, and international outlook.
It places institutions from across the world within the same framework, from globally established names such as Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the University of Oxford to emerging universities that continue to gain ground internationally.
Within this competitive field, UEMF continues to stand out nationally. Its placement reflects a steady trajectory rather than a one-time result, as the institution consolidates its position year after year.
The institution built its academic model on a mix of scientific rigor, multilingual education, and close ties with international partners. Its campus brings together students from dozens of countries, which shapes classroom experience and research work.
This year’s ranking comes at a time when global competition between universities grows stronger. Positions shift as institutions invest more in research output, faculty development, and international visibility. In that context, UEMF’s consistency signals that its strategy continues to deliver results.
Beyond the latest RUR 2026 result, the university records a consistent series of achievements across major global rankings and evaluation frameworks.
In the RUR 2025, UEMF placed first in Morocco, second in Africa, and among the top 360 universities worldwide. In ScholarGPS 2025, it ranked first nationally based on scientific excellence and academic impact.
At the Triple E Awards 2025, the United Nations Chair for the Alliance of Civilizations at UEMF received the “Alliance University of the Year” distinction. In the UI GreenMetric 2025 ranking, the university placed first nationally and among the top 400 universities worldwide for environmental sustainability performance.
In the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025, UEMF ranked second in Morocco and appeared among the top 600 universities globally for its contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
In U-Multirank, the institution ranked first nationally in overall performance and placed among the top 25 universities worldwide for student mobility.
Research performance also remains a key strength. In the Stanford–Elsevier 2025 global list, eight professors from UEMF ranked among the top 2 percent of the world’s most influential researchers.
Behind these results stands a broader approach that connects governance, teaching, and research standards to international benchmarks. The university also draws on a diverse academic community, with students from 52 nationalities, which adds to its global profile.
Based in Fez, at the crossroads between Europe, the Mediterranean, and Africa, UEMF continues to build its academic presence with the aim of reaching a wider international audience. Its direction remains tied to a long-term vision that seeks to position Morocco more firmly within global higher education networks.
