Rabat – Moroccan star Abdessamad Ezzalzouli acknowledged that it hurts to miss the FIFA World Cup 2026 with Morocco in a new post, in which he expressed himself following a serious knee injury he sustained during a friendly game with Norway.
“Missing such an important tournament is a very hard blow, and I’m not going to deny that it hurts. But it is in difficult moments that faith, patience, and gratitude matter the most. Alhamdulilah for everything,” the Moroccan football player wrote on his social media.
Ezzalzouli’s message came hours after FIFA announced that he is ruled out of the Moroccan squad and is replaced by Amine Sbai.
Ezzalzouli emphasized that everyone who knows him understands he will never give up.
“I will work every day, with more determination and enthusiasm than ever, to come back better and stronger,” the Atlas Lion said.
He also extended his best of luck to the Atlas Lions, who will have a challenging match opener against Brazil on Saturday at 11 p.m.
“I ask all Moroccans to stand united behind them and support them every step of the way,” he concluded.
Real Betis, where the Atlas Lions play at an international club level, expressed sympathy with Ezzalzouli in a post on X.
“We know how hard you’ve worked to achieve your World Cup dream. Life sometimes strikes unfairly, but we’re convinced that your football skills and effort will be rewarded soon. We’re with you Ez Abde,” Real Betis wrote.
