Rabat – Moroccan police at the Marrakech Menara Airport arrested a 30-year-old French-Algerian woman on suspicion of publishing digital content that included defamation and insults against Moroccan citizens.
A security source said the suspect posted content on her social media accounts, insulting Moroccan citizens as well as public officials.
Police launched an investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor, which resulted in a nationwide wanted notice for the suspect.
This enabled police to arrest the woman on Saturday while she was preparing to depart for France.
Police put the suspect in custody pending further investigation by Marrakech regional judicial police under the supervision of the public prosecutor.
The ongoing investigation aims to determine the true circumstances behind the woman’s alleged acts.
