Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of National Education, Preschool Education and Sports will launch the second edition of its Summer Schools Program in early July, following the end of the 2025-2026 academic year.
After being introduced on a pilot basis last year, the initiative will be expanded to all regional education directorates across the country.
The program is designed to support students who have fallen behind academically or are at risk of dropping out of school. Authorities aim to help participants strengthen their learning outcomes and better prepare for the next school year by providing remedial classes during the summer break.
Hicham El Kasrioui, the provincial director of the Ministry of National Education in Tetouan, told SNRT News the program has now become an annual initiative aimed at ensuring continuity in learning and improving academic achievement among struggling students.
He explained that education officials are currently using the ministry’s “Massar” digital platform to monitor student performance and identify those who may benefit from additional academic support. Lists of eligible students are being prepared, and parents will be contacted to encourage their children’s participation in the July sessions.
According to El Kasrioui, the platform also helps identify students considered at risk of dropping out due to repeated absences or poor academic results.
In addition to remedial lessons, this year’s program will include recreational activities such as drawing and music to create a more engaging learning environment and break the routine of traditional classroom instruction.
Parents’ associations have welcomed the initiative, citing positive results from the first edition. More than 31,000 primary and middle school students across Morocco participated in the pilot program last year.
