Rabat – Moroccan para taekwondo athlete Rajae Akermach continued her encouraging run of form by claiming a silver medal at the WT President’s Cup Europe (G3) in Nuremberg, just days after securing a fifth-place finish at the World Para Taekwondo Grand Prix in Rome.
Under the guidance of coach Amine Rabeh, Akermach returned to competition only two days after the Grand Prix and once again demonstrated her consistency by reaching the podium.
Earlier, the Moroccan athlete concluded her participation at the Grand Prix Roma 2026 in fifth place after a hard-fought quarterfinal against a Mexican opponent currently ranked third in the world. Akermach narrowly lost the bout 2-1, bringing an end to her campaign at one of the most prestigious events on the World Para Taekwondo calendar.
Despite the disappointment of missing out on a medal in Rome, Rabeh viewed the tournament as another important milestone in Akermach’s development.
“Of course, we were hoping to go further in the competition, but this event was another positive step in our journey,” he wrote on Instagram. “It gave us a chance to see where we stand, identify areas we can improve, and continue building on the work we’ve put in over the past months.”

Rabeh also highlighted the value of competing against some of the world’s best athletes, stressing that such experiences are essential for growth and future success.
“It was an honor to be part of such a prestigious international event and compete against some of the best athletes in the world. Experiences like this help us grow, gain valuable experience, and prepare for the challenges ahead,” he added.
Following the Rome event, Akermach quickly bounced back with a silver medal at the WT President’s Cup Europe, reinforcing Morocco’s growing presence in para taekwondo.
Rabeh, who oversees both the sporting and media aspects of Akermach’s career, explained that the pair had embarked on a shared mission despite the challenges of balancing elite sport with everyday responsibilities.
“Currently, I take care of the management and media side as a friend and brother. We decided to work together to succeed in this mission, especially since she works and studies alongside her sporting career,” he said.
The recent results underline Akermach’s steady progress and the ambition shared by athlete and coach as they continue their journey toward future international success, with the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games firmly in their sights.
