Rabat – France and Norway will face off tonight at 9 p.m. (GMT+1) in one of the most anticipated matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with much of the attention expected to fall on the rivalry between Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland. Both players have scored four goals during this tournament and are looking forward to adding more to their tally.
The encounter presents another chance for both players to strengthen their impressive World Cup journeys.
For Haaland, this tournament marks his first dance on football’s biggest stage, while Mbappé is already making his third World Cup appearance after winning the title with France in 2018 against Croatia and reaching the final in 2022 against Argentina, where he also won the Golden Boot.
Although football is a team sport, the individual performances of Mbappé and Haaland are likely to have a significant influence on the final result of the match. Both forwards carry the weight of helping their teams progress to the latter stages of the tournament.
Their ability to convert small chances into incredible goals could ultimately determine which side progresses further in the tournament.
When asked about the game against France, Haaland said “they would probably beat them and go on to win the whole tournament.”
That kind of statement could easily become a trap for France if they start to believe they are facing an easy opponent, something French player Aurélien Tchouaméni warned against in the last press conference.
Whether it is Mbappé or Haaland who delivers the decisive moment, tonight’s showdown offers both superstars the perfect stage to edge closer to the top of the scoring charts while helping their countries take another step toward the World Cup dream.
