Rabat – Spanish media reports have suggested that concerns are mounting within the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) over the possibility that U.S President Donald Trump could support Morocco hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup final.

The claims emerged following recent controversy surrounding Trump’s reported intervention in FIFA’s decision to suspend the implementation of Folarin Balogun’s one-match ban during the 2026 World Cup. Trump later publicly thanked FIFA after the United States striker was cleared to play.

According to Spanish journalist Juanma Castaño on Cope’s El Partidazo program, there are now fears within Spanish football circles that Trump could attempt to influence future World Cup decisions in Morocco’s favor.

“The Spanish federation isn’t saying it publicly, but there’s a fear — and some information to back it up — that Trump wants the 2030 World Cup final to be in Morocco and not in Spain,” Castaño said.

He added that Morocco’s close partnership with the United States, combined with Trump’s reportedly tense relationship with Spain, has fueled speculation inside the Spanish football establishment.

Spain is set to co-host the 2030 World Cup alongside Morocco and Portugal, while Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay will stage commemorative opening matches as part of FIFA’s centenary celebrations. However, FIFA has not officially confirmed which country will host the final.

The debate has already sparked reactions online, especially as Morocco continues strengthening its position in global football following consecutive deep World Cup runs and major infrastructure investments ahead of 2030.

While no official statement has been issued by either FIFA or the RFEF regarding the reports, the comments have added another political layer to ongoing discussions surrounding the organization of the historic tournament.
