Rabat – Morocco will continue to experience very hot weather on Wednesday, with temperatures reaching up to 48 degrees Celsius in several parts of the country, before a gradual cooling trend begins on Thursday, according to the country’s weather service.

The Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) said the hot weather will mainly affect the southern provinces, the southeast, the northern and central inland plains, the Saiss region, the Moulouya Valley, Oulmes, and inland areas of Souss. Maximum temperatures in these regions are expected to range between 40°C and 48°C.

Temperatures will range from 33°C to 40°C in the rest of the country, while the Atlas Mountains and coastal areas will see milder conditions, with highs between 25°C and 33°C.

Starting Thursday, temperatures are expected to gradually drop across most parts of Morocco. However, hot conditions will continue in the southern provinces, the southeast, and the far south of the country.

Warm weather is also expected to persist in the northern and central inland plains, the Saiss region, the Oriental region, Oulmes, and inland Souss.

Relatively strong winds are also forecast in the southern provinces, central regions, the Atlas Mountains, the southeast, and the Oriental region, with local dust expected in some areas.

The weather will remain hot on Friday in the far south and southeast, while inland regions including Saiss, Oulmes, and the Oriental region will continue to experience relatively hot conditions.

Looking ahead to the weekend and early next week, relatively hot weather is expected to continue in the southeast, the Oriental region, and inland parts of the southern provinces.

The weather service also expects temperatures to rise slightly from Monday through Wednesday before easing again toward the end of the period.

The majority of Moroccan cities have experienced unusually high temperatures in recent weeks. This has driven demand for air conditioning, while many families head to beaches and other cooler areas to escape the heat.
