Agadir – General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST) officers from the Judicial Police Prefectural Service in Casablanca arrested a 37-year-old French national today who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the French judicial authorities.
“Arrest of a French national subject to an international arrest warrant issued against him by the judicial authorities of the French state,” DGST announced today.
According to a joint statement by the DGSN and DGST, the operation was carried out as part of the ongoing security cooperation between Morocco’s judicial police and intelligence services.
In its statement, the DGST said the suspect was wanted “to execute a judicial ruling following his conviction for involvement in cases related to fraud and scams, car theft, and trafficking in vehicles obtained from criminal acts.”
A search of the suspect’s information through the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) database confirmed that he was internationally wanted at the request of the National Central Bureau (NCB) in Paris.
Moroccan authorities said the arrest warrant was issued to enforce a prison sentence following the suspect’s conviction on charges including fraud, vehicle theft, trafficking in stolen vehicles, money laundering, and the illegal possession of firearms and live ammunition without the required license.
The suspect has been placed under extradition procedures in accordance with instructions from the competent public prosecutor’s office.
Meanwhile, Interpol Rabat, the National Central Bureau operating under Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security, has informed its French counterpart of the arrest as part of the extradition process.
Authorities said the operation reflects Morocco’s continued commitment to international security cooperation, particularly efforts to identify and apprehend individuals wanted in connection with transnational crime.
