Casablanca – Beyond the headlines surrounding Julian Alvarez, FC Barcelona have quietly moved closer to another signing. After surprising everyone by finalizing the arrival of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle, Barça are close to another signing, reportedly in advanced talks with Borussia Dortmund for the German winger Karim Adeyemi.
According to Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have reached a full agreement for Adeyemi in a deal worth €22 million (MAD 234.97 million), with a further €7 million (MAD 74.76 million) in performance-related bonuses tied to appearances and titles. Borussia Dortmund also managed to successfully secure a 35% sell-on clause on any future transfer fee for the 24-year-old forward.
Adeyemi, whose contract with Dortmund runs until 2027, had already given the green light to the move, and is now set to put pen to paper on a five-year contract. The winger has earned 11 caps for Germany and scored one goal for the national team.
However, Adeyemi never quite fulfilled his potential at Borussia Dortmund, scoring 10 goals and six assists in 39 appearances last season. Despite that, Barcelona remain convinced by his profile. The German winger is expected to fill the void left by Marcus Rashford, who returned to Manchester United following the end of his loan.
This is an ideal opportunity to prove his quality in the upcoming seasons and relaunch his career under the Blaugrana colors.
