Casablanca – Aurelien Tchouameni has agreed to extend his stay at Real Madrid. According to Fabrizio Romano, the French national team vice-captain has reached an agreement with the Spanish club to sign a new contract until June 2031. The deal showcases Real Madrid’s confidence in one of their key midfielders, while also putting an end to the speculation surrounding his future.Â
Initially under contract until 2028, the former Monaco player’s future has been a regular topic of discussion in recent months. He has also been courted by several major English clubs in recent weeks, notably Manchester United, who had reportedly made him a priority.
But Real Madrid never really opened the door to a departure. Despite the team’s disappointing season, Tchouameni remained one of the club’s most consistent players. His return to defensive midfield after a long spell at center-back allowed him to regain his influence and reaffirm his importance within the squad.
At 25, Tchouameni is now firmly established in the Spanish giant’s long-term plans. Having arrived from Monaco in the summer of 2022, he has gradually become a key player for Los Blancos. This contract extension also sends a clear message from Real Madrid: the Frenchman is among the players destined to lead the team in the coming years.
He will be playing under his fourth manager in Madrid, the Portuguese Jose Mourinho, successor to Alvaro Arbeola.Â
