Atlas Lion Chemsedine Talbi shared a heartfelt message a day after Morocco’s 2-0 quarter-final elimination against France in the 2026 World Cup, expressing his frustration and stressing that the national team’s ambition was to go as far as possible in the tournament.
The Moroccan winger was in the starting lineup in the quarter-final match against France for the first time, as he had always come on as a substitute. This was the case in the group stage against Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti, as well as in the knockouts against the Netherlands, where he assisted a goal, and Canada.
Talbi wrote on social media that “the disappointment is immense, as our goal was to go much further in this tournament”.
He added that his first participation in the World Cup wearing the Moroccan jersey was always his dream, saying: “Wearing this jersey and participating in my first World Cup had always been my dream, and now it has become reality. Every match, every feeling, every moment shared with this team will remain etched in my memory.”
The player also thanked all the Moroccan fans who supported and stood by him during his World Cup journey. “Thanks to those who supported, encouraged, and shared this experience with us in Morocco and all over the world”.
Talbi emphasized that this elimination will be a motivation to come back stronger than ever, saying that “this exit will be a powerful motivation for us to come back stronger than ever”
He wrapped up his message with a sentence filled with optimism and determination, asserting, “This is only the beginning. Incha’Allah”.
