FIFA president Gianni Infantino has hailed Morocco’s World Cup campaign, describing the country as a passionate and dreamy country after becoming the first African nation to qualify for the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals on two occasions.
Morocco’s campaign has reflected both defensive solidity and attacking depth. With 10 goals, the Atlas Lions became the first African and Arab national team to secure the highest tally in a single edition ahead of Senegal.
“Your journey was full of beautiful moments and you gave your passionate, football-loving country so much joy,” Infantino said.
“The ten goals you scored in this tournament, your highest tally in a single edition, helped you become the first African nation to qualify for the FIFA World Cup Quarter-Finals on two occasions,” the FIFA President said in a post on Instagram.
He also expresses his passion for the upcoming 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host.
“As always, it was a pleasure hosting you and we look forward to your warmth in 2030,” he added
Currently, Morocco ranks seventh in FIFA’s world rankings. The country has built on its remarkable World Cup performance and now puts its focus on the upcoming African Cup of Nations.
