Ibrahim El Asri is Wydad Casablanca New President

Rabat – Wydad Casablanca has appointed Ibrahim El Asri as its new president.

El Asri was appointed after winning the second round of voting during the club’s Ordinary General Assembly for the 2025-26 season on Tuesday. 

El Asri secured 72 votes, defeating rival Yassine Saadallah, who received 56 votes, to succeed outgoing president Hicham Ait Menna. 

The election required a second round after none of the candidates secured an outright majority in the opening vote. El Asri had led the first round with 62 votes, ahead of Saadallah on 43, while Anas Karami finished third with 27 votes and was eliminated from the race. 

Speaking after his election, El Asri described the result as an honor and said his focus would immediately shift to working for the club.

“We must now begin working, and this is a great honor for me. I promise Wydad’s supporters sincerity and dedication in serving the club. There will be new signings,” he said.

The newly elected president also praised the atmosphere surrounding the club’s general assembly, describing it as a successful democratic process.

“The General Assembly was a democratic celebration that took place under the best possible conditions. We will work with complete sincerity and love for this club. We will live up to the responsibility and to the expectations of Wydad’s supporters.”

El Asri now takes charge of one of Morocco’s most successful clubs as preparations continue for the new season, with supporters expected to closely watch the club’s activity in the summer transfer window following his promise of new reinforcements.
