Casablanca – Another well-known name on the international scene has joined Lionel Messi and Inter Miami, with the MLS team announcing on Wednesday the signing of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro.
The 34-year-old, who had been seeking a new contract, agreed to a deal that ties him to Inter Miami until 2027. An option to extend his stay in Miami until 2029 is also included in the contract.
Even though the contract signing has been made official, MLS is still evaluating allegations of illegal recruitment.
Despite questions surrounding his future at Old Trafford, Casemiro is coming off a particularly solid season. The Brazilian played 34 matches, starting 33 of them and demonstrating his continued importance to the Manchester United system. Arriving from Real Madrid in 2022 to bolster the Red Devils’ midfield, Casemiro notably won the English League Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.
The Brazilian also participated in the last World Cup with the Seleção. A starter in the round of 16 match against Norway, which ended in a 1-2 defeat for Brazil, he continued to play a major role with his national team despite his advancing years.
