Rabat – King Mohammed VI has ordered the handover of the Mohammed VI Vocational Training Complex to the Malian authorities.
Moroccan news agency MAP reported Friday that the complex provides training in different sectors, including construction, hospitality, tourism, and catering.
The Mohammed VI Foundation for Sustainable Development developed the complex on a 5,200-square-meter site.
The facility will host nearly 1,000 trainees annually across 21 programs, including courses in construction and public works, as well as nine programs focused on tourism, hospitality, and catering.
Morocco’s Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita said the decision is part of King Mohammed VI’s special attention to Malian and African youth broadly.
Bourita made the remarks during a visit to the complex, adding that the initiative also forms part of Morocco’s South-South cooperation approach.
Bourita is in Bamako, where he is co-chairing the 4th session of the Morocco-Mali Joint Cooperation Commission alongside his counterpart, Abdoulaye Diop.
Mali’s Minister of National Entrepreneurship, Oumou Sall Seck, expressed gratitude and conveyed the appreciation of Mali’s transitional president and head of state to the Moroccan monarch.
She described the Moroccan initiative as a highly significant gesture reflecting the historic bonds of solidarity between the two countries.
For Mali, the decision addresses the need to help develop skills and boost human capital in key sectors that seek to contribute to the country’s socio-economic development.
Mali and Morocco have continuously emphasized their determination to boost bilateral relations. This commitment intensified following Mali’s decision to withdraw recognition of the Polisario’s self-proclaimed “SADR” and its support for Morocco’s Autonomy Plan as the only political solution to the Western Sahara dispute in April.
This Friday, Mali reiterated the same position and reaffirmed its commitment to continue boosting cooperation and bilateral relations with Morocco.
