Rabat – Morocco has strengthened its position as a trusted and influential international partner, King Mohammed VI said on Wednesday, citing the country’s political stability, economic progress, and growing network of global partnerships as key foundations of its rising stature.
In his Throne Day speech marking the 27th anniversary of his accession to the throne, the King said Morocco’s progress has given the country a stronger voice on regional and international issues.
“With Almighty God’s help, I have managed to consolidate Morocco’s position as a reliable, respected, and influential player on the global stage,” the King said.
He added that Morocco has become “an important economic player” and a “sought-after” partner for “new, balanced, and forward-looking partnerships.”
A growing international role
The King’s remarks reflected Morocco’s growing role as a bridge between Africa, Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Atlantic. The country has expanded its diplomatic and economic ties in recent years while promoting cooperation based on shared interests and long-term development.
Morocco has also worked to diversify its international partnerships. The King said the country made a strategic choice to broaden its relations in order to strengthen its capacities and increase its influence across different sectors.
This approach has helped Morocco deepen cooperation with partners in Europe, Africa, the Gulf, North America, and Asia. It has also supported the country’s efforts to attract foreign investment and strengthen its position in global supply chains.
Morocco’s growing industrial base has played an important role in this progress. The country has become Africa’s leading automotive exporter and has expanded its presence in sectors such as aerospace, renewable energy, food production, and electric vehicle batteries.
The King said Morocco has consolidated its position as an attractive hub for industrial, tourism, and financial investment. He also pointed to the country’s economic growth, which reached around 4.9% in 2025 and is expected to remain at a similar level or higher in 2026.
International interest in Morocco has also increased as the country prepares to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal. Moroccan officials have presented the tournament as more than a sporting event, describing it as an opportunity to accelerate infrastructure development, attract investment, strengthen trade, and promote technology transfer. Recent business forums have also highlighted Morocco’s growing appeal as a gateway connecting European companies with African markets.
The King also linked Morocco’s growing international standing to its ability to organize major continental and global events. He said the country’s successful management of such events had earned it “respect and admiration” around the world.
Confidence over despair
However, the speech also stressed that Morocco’s progress should strengthen confidence at home.
The King said the country had reached “a pivotal moment” in its development where an ideal of “confidence and optimism should prevail over despair and frustration.”
He emphasized that Morocco’s security, political stability, and effective institutions remain among its most valuable assets, particularly at a time of growing regional and international uncertainty.
“What gives us the greatest sense of pride and satisfaction is the security and stability enjoyed by Morocco, as well as the efficiency and effectiveness of state institutions,” the King said.
He linked Morocco’s growing international standing to years of strategic planning, economic progress, and efforts to build stronger partnerships. His speech also carried a message for Moroccans at home, urging them to draw confidence and optimism from the country’s achievements rather than focus on narratives of despair and frustration.
