Rabat– King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid, and Prince Moulay Ahmed, presided over an official reception in the city of M’diq on Thursday to commemorate the 27th anniversary of his accession to the Throne of his illustrious ancestors.

Held at the M’diq-Fnideq Prefecture Square, the ceremony formed one of the main official events of Morocco’s Throne Day celebrations, drawing senior state officials, military leaders, diplomats, religious representatives, and prominent international guests.

The reception opened with the King saluting the Moroccan flag as the national anthem was played, followed by a 21-gun salute in honor of the occasion.

King Mohammed VI then received congratulations from the country’s highest-ranking officials, including Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami, Speaker of the House of Councillors Mohamed Ould Errachid, and the heads of Morocco’s judicial and constitutional institutions.

The Sovereign also greeted senior military and security officials, including Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces General Mohamed Berrid, Royal Gendarmerie Commander General Mohamed Haramou, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance Abdellatif Hammouchi, and Director General of Studies and Documentation Mohamed Yassine El Mansouri.

The ceremony brought together representatives of Morocco’s constitutional bodies, oversight institutions, and regional authorities, reflecting the broad participation of the North African country’s political and administrative leadership in the annual celebration.

International participation was equally prominent. Members of the diplomatic corps representing African, Arab, European, Asian, and American countries attended the reception, alongside religious leaders from Morocco’s Muslim, Christian, Orthodox, Protestant, and Jewish communities, highlighting the country’s longstanding tradition of religious coexistence.

Among the distinguished guests were FIFA President Gianni Infantino and members of Morocco’s national football team, reflecting the country’s growing prominence on the global football stage ahead of its co-hosting of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

The annual Throne Day reception remains one of Morocco’s most significant state ceremonies, serving as a platform for national and international figures to extend their congratulations to the King and reaffirm the importance of Throne Day as a symbol of national unity, institutional continuity, and the enduring bond between the Throne and the Moroccan people.
