Rabat – Temperatures will remain high across much of Morocco today.
The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) is forecasting hot weather in the Tadla plains, inland Souss and Chiadma, the southern Oriental, the southeast, inland southern provinces, and relatively hot conditions in Rhamna, Saiss, inland Gharb, and the Moulouya Valley.
Thunderstorms with showers and a risk of hail are expected over the Atlas Mountains, their eastern slopes, and the Oriental. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are also forecast for the Anti-Atlas, Souss, and the eastern parts of the southern provinces.
Morning and nighttime low clouds with patches of fog are expected over the northern and central Atlantic plains and, in some areas, along the Mediterranean coast.
Fairly strong wind gusts are forecast along the central coasts, the southern Oriental, and the southern provinces, with local blowing dust.
Minimum temperatures will range between 28°C and 33°C in Chiadma, Souss, the southeast, and the eastern southern provinces. They will vary between 16°C and 22°C in the Atlas, Rif, northern and central plains, southern coasts, and the western Mediterranean shoreline, while other regions will see lows between 22°C and 28°C.
Maximum temperatures are expected to rise slightly over the northern and central plains, Saiss, Oulmes, and the eastern southern provinces.
The highest temperatures are forecast in Es-Semara at 45°C, Marrakech at 42°C, and Fez, Errachidia, Taounate, and Ouarzazate, where highs will reach between 40°C and 41°C.
Sea conditions will be slight to slight-moderate in the Mediterranean and the Strait, slight north of Casablanca, and slight to moderate farther south.
Morocco has faced a series of intense heatwaves in recent weeks, with temperatures rising sharply across several regions.
The weather authority urges residents to take precautions, particularly by staying well hydrated, avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun, and limiting outdoor activities during peak hours.
