Rabat – Lille have reportedly begun planning for the potential departure of Ayyoub Bouaddi, with the Ligue 1 club identifying Real Madrid midfielder Jorge Cestero as a possible replacement.
According to Matteo Moretto, the French side are closely monitoring the 20-year-old prospect as they prepare for a major squad transition under new head coach Davide Ancelotti.
Bouaddi has emerged as one of Europe’s most exciting young midfielders after a standout season and impressive performances at the 2026 World Cup. Manchester City are now believed to be closing in on a deal for the 18-year-old Moroccan, having already reached a verbal agreement on personal terms. The Premier League champions reportedly see Bouaddi as a long-term successor to Rodri, who is expected to move to Real Madrid this summer.
With Bouaddi’s exit looking increasingly likely, Lille have turned their attention towards Cestero, one of the brightest talents in Real Madrid’s academy. The defensive midfielder has developed through La Fábrica since joining the club in 2019 and has earned praise for his tactical awareness, technical ability, and calmness in possession.
Real Madrid remain confident in Cestero’s potential and view him as a player who could eventually become part of the first-team setup. He is under contract until 2028 and made his senior debut last season, while continuing to train and feature with the first team during pre-season.
However, a loan move could be considered to help him gain regular top-level experience. Lille could provide the perfect opportunity for Cestero to develop while filling the gap left by Bouaddi.
