Rabat – Moroccan forward Yassir Zabiri isn’t just arriving in Spanish football, but is stepping up to make an immediate, measurable impact.
Fresh off completing his loan move from Stade Rennais to Racing Santander through June 2027, the promising striker officially launched his Spanish chapter with a bold, goal-driven mindset.
In his official introductory press conference, the promising young striker shared his enthusiasm, clear ambitions, and admiration for some of the game’s greatest legends.
“I agreed quickly to join Racing Santander, and I didn’t hesitate to decline offers from other clubs,” the football player said.
Zabiri’s move to Spanish football marks a strategic step in his career progression. After experiencing the French game with Stade Rennais, the forward noted that the tactical and technical nature of football in Spain aligns perfectly with his playing style and strengths.
With Racing Santander providing a competitive platform, Zabiri aims to make an immediate impact on the pitch. By setting an explicit numerical target for his debut campaign, he showcases a focused, performance-driven mindset. Establishing 10 goals as an initial milestone gives him a tangible objective while keeping his long-term ambition open.
“My primary ambition is to score 10 goals. Once I reach that milestone, I will aim to increase that number,” Zabiri explained.
“My idol is Lionel Messi, everyone knows he is the best. I was also a big fan of Luis Suárez during his time with Barcelona,” he added.
By naming Lionel Messi as his primary footballing idol, he aligns himself with a standard of elite decision-making. Meanwhile, citing Luis Suárez reflects an appreciation for relentless off-the-ball movement.
Drawing inspiration from Barcelona’s iconic attacking era underlines Zabiri’s desire to combine world-class flair with decisive final-third efficiency as he takes on his new challenge in Spanish football
