Casablanca – Morocco ranked second in Africa for mobile download speed during the first half of 2026, according to data from nPerf covering tests conducted between January 1 and July 1.
The country recorded an average mobile download speed of 73.8 Mbps, placing it behind Madagascar, which topped the African ranking with 81.9 Mbps. Togo came third with 64.1 Mbps.
Algeria ranked fourth with 40.9 Mbps, followed by Tunisia at 34.6 Mbps and Senegal at 33.3 Mbps. South Africa took seventh place with 31.4 Mbps, while Côte d’Ivoire recorded 26.3 Mbps. Kenya and Benin completed the top 10 with 23.4 Mbps and 21.0 Mbps respectively.
The ranking is based on download speed measured through nPerf tests carried out during the six-month period.

Morocco also stood out in a separate comparison of mobile browsing performance among countries with GDP per capita ranging from $1,565 to $6,260.
It ranked first in that group with a browsing performance score of 57.2%, narrowly ahead of India at 57.1%. Tunisia followed in third place with 55.9%, while Ukraine ranked fourth at 53.6%.
Kyrgyzstan recorded 52.4%, followed by Algeria with 51.2%. Vietnam ranked seventh with 48.8% and Côte d’Ivoire eighth with 45.6%.
Egypt came ninth with 40.2%, while Senegal completed the top 10 at 38.9%.
The wider comparison included 20 countries. Uzbekistan ranked 11th with 38.7%, followed by Benin at 37.5% and Venezuela at 37.0%.
Cameroon recorded 36.0%, while Guinea posted 35.6%. Kenya ranked 16th with 32.8%, ahead of Angola at 30.2%.
Pakistan recorded 28.6%, Ghana 22.5%, and Sri Lanka 18.3%.
The browsing ranking was also based on nPerf test data collected from January 1 to July 1, 2026. The figures measure mobile browsing performance, while the first ranking specifically measures download speeds.
