Rabat – Barcelona forward Ferran Torres has been granted permission to miss training as he moves closer to completing a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, according to the BBC.
Torres was expected to return to Barcelona training on Wednesday but was allowed to remain absent as negotiations over his transfer to PSG continue. The move is reportedly worth more than £40 million.
Spain’s World Cup hero, 26, scored the extra-time winner against Argentina to help Spain secure their second World Cup title this summer; he has only one year remaining on his contract with Barcelona.
Torres joined Barcelona from Manchester City in 2022 and is set to reunite with Luis Enrique at Paris Saint-Germain, having previously worked under the Spanish coach during his time with the national team.
Speaking to a US media outlet during his media tour, Torres said, “I have a contract with Barcelona, but in football, you never know. I am waiting to make the right decision.”
Asked directly about links with PSG, Torres added: “Every time these teams want you, it’s a good thing. You never know because in football everything can change in one minute, so I have to be ready for everything.”
Torres recorded his most productive season with Barcelona in 2025/26, scoring 21 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions.
