Cameroon and Malawi will meet at the Stade Moulay Hassan in Rabat on Sunday, August 16, with history on the line in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final.

Rabat – Cameroon and Malawi will meet at the Stade Moulay Hassan in Rabat on Sunday, August 16, with history on the line in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final.

Cameroon are chasing their first-ever continental title after reaching the final for the fourth time. Malawi, meanwhile, are playing in their first WAFCON tournament and have already reached the final in a remarkable debut campaign.

Both teams have players capable of changing the game. Here are the main names to watch.

Cameroon

Michaely Bihina

Cameroon will rely heavily on goalkeeper Michaely Bihina.

She was the hero of the semi-final against Morocco. Bihina saved a penalty during extra time before stopping three penalties in the shootout.

Her ability to stay calm under pressure could be crucial against Malawi’s dangerous attack.

Naomi Eto

In midfield, Naomi Eto will have an important role in controlling the game.

The Cameroonian midfielder will be expected to protect the defense and help her team move quickly from defense to attack.

Her passing and positioning could be key if Cameroon try to absorb Malawi’s pressure and hit on the counter.

Malawi

Tabitha Chawinga

Tabitha Chawinga is one of Malawi’s biggest attacking threats. The experienced forward has the pace and movement to cause problems for Cameroon’s defenders. Her ability to create space and attack from different positions will be important in the final.

Cameroon cannot afford to give her too much room.

Temwa Chawinga

Tabitha’s sister Temwa Chawinga is another player who could make the difference.

Known for her speed, power, and clinical finishing, Temwa gives Malawi another dangerous option in the final third.

The Chawinga sisters’ understanding and movement could be one of Malawi’s biggest weapons against Cameroon’s disciplined defense.

Rose Kadzere

Rose Kadzere will also be a player to watch in Malawi’s midfield.

She provides creativity and helps connect the midfield with the attack. Her ability to find the Chawinga sisters in dangerous positions could be crucial.

If Malawi dominate possession, Kadzere could play a major role in breaking down Cameroon’s defensive structure.

A final full of history

Cameroon will look to their defensive organization and experience in major matches, while Malawi will rely on their attacking energy and the individual quality of the Chawinga sisters.

With a first WAFCON title at stake for both teams, the performances of these players could determine who makes history in Rabat.
