Morocco has emerged as the African country with the highest number of stadiums approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host continental matches, according to figures circulating in a recent ranking.

Rabat – Morocco has emerged as the African country with the highest number of stadiums approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host continental matches, according to figures circulating in a recent ranking.

The North African country has 16 CAF-approved stadiums, putting it at the top of the continental list and three stadiums ahead of second-placed South Africa, which has 13 approved venues.

Egypt ranks third with eight stadiums, while Algeria, Mali, and Cameroon share fourth place with five approved stadiums each.

Libya and Tunisia follow with three stadiums apiece, while Uganda and Angola each have two.

The figures point to Morocco’s growing investment in sports infrastructure in recent years. The country has built new stadiums and renovated existing venues to bring them in line with international standards.

Morocco’s large network of approved stadiums also strengthens its ability to host major continental and international competitions.

The development comes as the country continues to expand its role as a host of major sporting events. Morocco is preparing to stage the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, while the country has also become a regular venue for major African football competitions.

With 16 CAF-approved stadiums, Morocco not only leads the continental ranking but also reinforces its position as one of Africa’s best-equipped countries for hosting major football events.

As ongoing stadium projects continue, the country is expected to further improve its sporting infrastructure and strengthen its capacity to meet the highest international standards.
