Couhaib Driouech Breaks Silence After Rangers Move Collapses

Rabat – Couhaib Driouech has spoken publicly for the first time since his proposed move to Scottish side Rangers collapsed, revealing the physical issue that complicated the transfer and leaving the door open to a new move before the summer window closes.

Driouech had been on the verge of joining Rangers after the Scottish club and PSV Eindhoven reached an agreement over the main terms of the transfer.

However, the deal fell through during the final stages after a disagreement emerged over his medical examination results.

Speaking to ESPN, Driouech said the failed transfer had taken an emotional toll but insisted that he has now returned to the pitch and feels ready to resume his career.

“I went through some intense emotional ups and downs, but I’m back now. I think there was a disagreement between the doctors,” Driouech said.

The 24-year-old explained that he had been dealing with a thigh injury that was complicated by another incident during the same period.

“I had a small tear in my thigh, and I believe it was made worse after I took a knock to my knee that week, which caused a blood clot,” he added.

The disagreement over his physical condition ultimately prevented the Rangers move from being completed, despite the transfer having advanced significantly.

Driouech said he had little influence over the decision and acknowledged that joining Rangers would have represented an important step in his career.

“I had no role in their decision. I would have considered it a big step forward,” he told ESPN.

Morocco’s international has since returned to PSV and is preparing to rejoin full team training after progressing through his rehabilitation program.

The Dutch club has opted to take a measured approach to his future rather than rush into another transfer.

Driouech, however, remains open to leaving Eindhoven if the right opportunity emerges before the transfer window closes.

“It’s difficult, but that’s the reality. I’m waiting to see how things develop. If an opportunity comes, I’ll take it. Nothing is certain yet.”

Remaining at PSV could also provide an opportunity to regain full fitness and rebuild his competitive rhythm following his injury setback.

With the summer transfer window still open, Driouech’s next move remains uncertain.
