Casablanca – Ema Modric, the daughter of Croatian football star Luka Modric, has joined Real Madrid’s women’s academy, continuing her development in Spain after impressing during her time in Italy.
Born in 2013, Ema has signed for Real Madrid’s cadet girls’ team after previously developing within AC Milan’s youth setup. She had already spent time playing in Spain before her move to Italy, including a spell with Madrid CFF.
Her earlier connection with Madrid was limited by the structure of the club’s youth system at the time.
Real Madrid did not have girls’ teams below the cadet level, meaning Ema could not join the club during that period.
After her family moved to Milan following Luka Modric’s transfer to the Italian club, Ema continued her football development there and reportedly stood out within Milan’s youth ranks.
Now back in the Spanish capital, she will compete with Real Madrid’s cadet side in the Primera División Autonómica Cadete of the Madrid region.
The team has already begun its pre-season preparations under head coach Héctor Bueno, who previously worked as an assistant within the category from the 2022-23 season onward.
Ema’s arrival gives Real Madrid another young prospect to develop within its growing women’s academy, while also adding a familiar footballing name to the club’s youth ranks.
