Meknes – Moroccan footballer Moncef Zekri is finalizing his summer transfer to Portuguese side Sporting CP, marking a major milestone in his professional career.
The promising player has already arrived in Lisbon to sign a four-year contract and undergo the standard media duties ahead of the club’s official announcement.
Journalist Sacha Tavolieri confirmed that the transfer is in its final stages, with the player actively taking the final steps toward sealing his long-term future in Portugal.
“Moncef Zekri currently in Estádio José Alvalade in order to sign his 4 years contract and make the official pictures linked to his transfer with Sporting Portugal. Exclusive confirmed,” Tavolieri wrote on X.
The 17-year-old player was omitted from KV Mechelen’s squad during their recent two Jupiler Pro League matchdays. This absence comes as the Belgian club completes final negotiations for his transfer.
This decision follows an impressive previous campaign with the Belgian side, where he established himself in the first team and recorded 17 appearances across all competitions.
On the international stage, Zekri announced himself with Morocco by winning the 2025 U17 AFCON, making the tournament’s Best XI, and following up with standout performances at the U17 World Cup.
His attacking quality from the left flank was on full display during the round of 16 against Mali, where he provided two assists to seal Morocco’s victory.
