Agadir – Morocco celebrates the birthday of Princess Lalla Asmaa on Tuesday, recognizing her longstanding contributions to education, healthcare, and social development, particularly her efforts to support deaf and hard-of-hearing children.
As President of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation, Princess Lalla Asmaa has led initiatives to improve access to medical care and education for children with hearing impairments, while promoting their inclusion in society.
The Foundation has developed a comprehensive model that supports children from early detection and diagnosis to medical treatment, education, and university studies. Its programs also provide families with social support and expand access to hearing care across Morocco and beyond.
On September 15, Princess Lalla Asmaa and Kenya’s First Lady Rachel Ruto visited Moroccan and Kenyan patients who had received cochlear implants at the Mohammed VI International University Hospital in Rabat.
The visit is part of the fourth phase of the international “United, We Understand Each Other Better” program and Morocco’s national “NASMAA” campaign, which aim to improve access to hearing treatment for children.
Princess Lalla Asmaa also welcomed Ruto to Morocco on September 14 at Rabat-Sale Airport, as the Kenyan First Lady began a working visit to the country. The following day, King Mohammed VI hosted a luncheon in her honor at the Royal Guest Palace in Rabat, which Princess Lalla Asmaa attended.

In June, Princess Lalla Asmaa presided over the first Patient Day for deaf people in Rabat, marking two decades of the Foundation’s work supporting deaf and hard-of-hearing children and their families. The event also saw the launch of the “Hearing Aid for All” program, which complements the national NASMAA campaign and the international initiative.
Later that month, she chaired the Foundation’s end-of-year ceremony for the 2025-2026 academic year at its headquarters in Rabat, highlighting its role in providing educational opportunities for children with hearing impairments.
The Foundation has also expanded its services beyond Rabat. In December 2025, Princess Lalla Asmaa inaugurated the Princess Lalla Asmaa Centre in Meknes, which aims to provide comprehensive and free care for deaf and hard-of-hearing children from the city and surrounding communities.
Princess Lalla Asmaa’s efforts have also extended to the international level. In November 2025, the Princess traveled to Nairobi at the invitation of Ruto, where they launched the fourth phase of the “United, We Understand Each Other Better” program at Kenyatta National Hospital.
