Rabat – Nexans, a global company specialized in sustainable electrification, has announced a change in the general management of Nexans Morocco.
In a statement, the company announced today the appointment of Amine Houssaim as General Manager of the Nexans Northwest Africa Business Unit and Nexans Morocco.
The appointment is effective immediately following the approval of the Board of Directors.
Houssaim boasts an experience of 20 years in the industrial and energy sectors, developing expertise in managing industrial activities and operations, energy transition, and corporate transformation.
The new general manager of Nexans Morocco has held several positions in giant companies, including Morocco’s global leader in plant nutrition and the world’s leading exporter of phosphate-based fertilizers, OCP, where he took on new responsibilities in renewable energy, hydrogen, and industrial decarbonization.
Houssaim also served as general manager of INNOVX, a subsidiary of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), where he led the development of innovative and sustainable industrial projects and ecosystems.
Nexans said the appointment is part of “an effort to ensure business continuity and the proper execution of ongoing strategic projects.”
In addition to Houssaim, Nexans also announced the appointment of Noureddine Aouda as Deputy General Manager of Nexans Morocco.
Aouda will take the position alongside his role as General Manager of Sirmel, a subsidiary of Nexans Morocco.
Nexans described Aouda’s experience within the Nexans Group as extensive, particularly in innovation and digital development.
The organizational change, according to Nexans, followed Selma Alami’s decision to leave Nexans to pursue new projects after over 20 years with the group.
Alami held several leadership positions, including general manager of Nexans North & West Africa.
“Under her leadership, Nexans Morocco strengthened its industrial positioning, expanded its activities, and consolidated its role as a leading player in electrification and energy transition, both in Morocco and West Africa,” Nexans said in the statement.
Despite her departure from her leadership role, Alami will remain a member of the Board of Directors of Nexans Morocco. In this role, she will continue to provide her expertise to support the group in key projects.
The group concluded the statement, acknowledging her commitment, leadership and significant contribution to the company’s development– wishing her success in the next stage of her career.
