Rabat – Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) said a heatwave and thunderstorms will affect several provinces across the country.
Temperatures will range between 36 and 40 degrees Celsius and will affect the provinces of Taroudant, Oued E-Dahab, Es-Semara, Boujdour, Laayoune and Aousserd from Friday to Sunday.
The orange-level weather alert also forecasts thunderstorms of between 20 and 30 millimeters with a risk of hail and wind during storms from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. today. This weather will specifically potentially hit the provinces of Al Haouz, Ifrane, Azilal, and Rehamna.
The same weather is also expected in Boulemane, Marrakech, El Kelaa Sraghna, Khenifra, Chichaoua and Sefrou.
On Thursday, the weather office also said it expects temperatures ranging between 36 and 42 degrees in southern provinces through Sunday, and thunderstorms producing 20 to 25 millimeters of rainfall in other provinces like Taourirt, Al Haouz, Tata, Guercif, Sefrou and Boulemane.
