Rabat – India-headquartered defence technology company MKU Limited plans to establish a manufacturing facility in Morocco’s SGZID Zone in Nouasser, where it will produce electro-optics and armour solutions for the local and African markets. The company said it will announce details on the facility’s location, scale, timeline, and investment at a later stage.
The project will expand a relationship between MKU and Morocco’s armed forces that has developed over the past five years. During that period, the Indian company supplied optronics and personal protection products to the Moroccan armed forces. The new facility will move part of that activity into local manufacturing, according to MKU.
MKU said the factory will cover products from its Netro Optronics and Kavro Protection portfolios. Netro Optronics includes multi-sensor electro-optic systems used for situational awareness, surveillance, reconnaissance and target acquisition. Kavro Protection covers body armour, ballistic helmets, shields and armouring for platforms.
The company said the Moroccan operation will also involve the transfer of production capabilities and technical expertise. It expects the facility to create skilled jobs for Moroccan engineers, technicians and manufacturing professionals. MKU also said local production and support will allow faster deliveries, greater flexibility and after-sales services closer to customers in Morocco.

The announcement comes as Morocco and India deepen their defence relationship. On September 8, the two countries held the first meeting of their Joint Defence Committee in New Delhi.
The talks covered defence industries alongside military training, peacekeeping, exercises, medical cooperation and cyber defence. Both sides also agreed to explore co-production, joint ventures, technology cooperation, maintenance and sustainment.
The meeting followed a defence cooperation agreement signed by India and Morocco in September 2025, which created a framework for cooperation in defence industry, military training, joint exercises and capacity building.
MKU said its Moroccan factory will serve as a base for exports to Africa and will extend its international manufacturing footprint to North Africa. The company currently has manufacturing and operational infrastructure in India, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, as well as a European Centre of Excellence in Germany.
Products manufactured in Morocco will be offered to partner forces across Africa and Europe, MKU said. Vice President for International Sales Karan Gupta said the facility would turn the company’s five-year relationship with Morocco into a long-term industrial commitment.
