Rabat – Morocco will host the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations Futsal from October 12 to 21, with matches scheduled to take place at two indoor venues in Rabat: the Moulay Abdellah Sports Hall and the Ibn Yassine Sports Hall.
The tournament will bring together eight national teams competing for the continental title. The participating teams have been divided into two groups of four.
Host nation Morocco will compete in Group A alongside Libya, Zambia, and Algeria. Group B features Egypt, Angola, Mozambique, and Tanzania.
The top teams will advance to the knockout stages, with the tournament providing another opportunity for African futsal nations to compete for a place at the top of the continent.
Morocco chases fourth Futsal AFCON title
Morocco enters the competition as the defending champion and one of Africa’s leading futsal teams.
This year’s edition will be the third consecutive time Morocco hosts the continental competition. The North African country previously staged the tournament in 2024, when the national team successfully defended its title on home soil.
Morocco first won the Futsal AFCON in 2016 in South Africa. The Atlas Lions then added another title in 2020 before retaining the trophy in 2024.
The 2026 tournament therefore allows Morocco to claim a fourth continental crown in front of its home supporters.
Head coach Hicham Dguig has named a 14-player squad for the competition, including several experienced players who have been part of Morocco’s recent international success.
The squad includes Soufiane El Mesrar, Bilal Bakkali, Anas El Ayyane, Soufiane Borite, and Idriss Raiss El Fenni.

Two Rabat venues
The Moulay Abdellah Sports Hall and Ibn Yassine Sports Hall will host the matches during the 10-day tournament.
The two venues are located in Rabat and will provide the setting for the group-stage and knockout matches.
The choice of Rabat as the sole host city also allows Morocco to stage the competition in established sporting facilities while giving supporters in the capital an opportunity to follow the national team during its title defense.
Morocco’s organization of the 2026 Futsal AFCON comes during a period of continued investment in sports infrastructure as the country prepares to host major international football events.
With the tournament beginning on October 12, Morocco will now turn its attention to its opening matches in Group A as Dguig’s side begins its pursuit of a fourth African futsal title.
